Lake Kezar Country Club in Lovell, Maine
One of my favorite golf courses in the area!
Lake Kezar Country Club is one of those classic Maine golf spots that feels relaxed, scenic, and very connected to the area around it. Located in Lovell, the course sits in the foothills of the White Mountains and offers 18 holes of public golf.
The original course dates back to the 1920s and was designed by Donald Ross, one of the best-known golf course architects in the country. The front nine has that older, traditional feel, while the back nine was added later, giving the course a nice mix of history, scenery, and variety.
One of the best things about Lake Kezar Country Club is that it is fun for all abilities. It is a par-72 course with four sets of tees, so it can work for a wide range of golfers. It is not trying to be overly fancy or intimidating. It is a place where you can play a casual round, enjoy the views, and still get a good challenge with some large greens, ponds, stone walls, trees, and classic New England terrain. The views at the end of the day are amazing as well!
The course also has a lot of local charm. The clubhouse was originally a schoolhouse, and after a round you can sit on the screened porch, have a drink, and take in the setting. The clubhouse staff are some of the nicest people you'll meet at a golf course.
For anyone visiting Lovell, Bridgton, Fryeburg, or the greater Lake Kezar area, this is an easy course to put on the list. Whether you are a serious golfer, a summer visitor, or just looking for a fun local round, Lake Kezar Country Club is a great example of why golf in this part of Maine is so enjoyable.
